Handbuilding with Clay Workshops
Having been a long term fixture in the pottery painting scene for many years here in Elsternwick, we are so excited to branch out into workshops that will allow creatives to start the ceramic process from scratch!!
In our hand-building clay workshop at Glaze It Studio, you will learn the art of creating beautiful ceramics with your own two hands. Create stunning pieces to take home and cherish forever.
If you’ve never worked with clay before, don’t worry! Our friendly and experienced teachers will guide you every step of the way, making the process fun and engaging. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve with a bit of creativity and some basic hand-building techniques.
Handbuilding with Clay workshops will be a regular feature starting at our Elsternwick Studio.

Make your own jewellery dishes
During the two-hour jewellery dish workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience with clay, learning how to shape, mould, and decorate your pieces. The first half-hour will be spent with the teacher going through a demonstration where you will be able to follow on to make your jewellery dish.
The remaining 1.5 hours will then be spent creating your pieces based on the skills you have just learned and the opportunity to decorate with underglaze paints. There will also be some examples available for inspiration if you’re stuck for ideas!
You will have the opportunity to make up to 3 pieces and your pieces will be left with us to dry, fire, be glazed, and fired again. This process will take approximately 4-5 weeks.
Immerse yourself in this fun and creative experience and leave with your handmade pottery creations to proudly display in your home.

Make your own pinch pot with legs!
During the two hour pinch pot workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience with clay, learning how to shape, mould, and decorate your pieces. The first half-hour will be spent with the teacher going through a demonstration where you will be able to follow on to make your own pinch pot and how to successfully attach legs.
The remaining 1.5 hours will then be spent creating your own pieces based on the skills you have just learnt and the opportunity to decorate with underglaze paints. There will also be some examples available for inspiration if you’re stuck for ideas!
